Jan Nelson

OTR/L, MA—

HeartSprings Founder

and Integrated Occupational Therapist

Jan is a licensed and registered occupational therapist within the state of ND.  She is a mind-body practitioner with multiple trainings and certifications in mind body medicine such as: Center for Mind Body Medicine practitioner; HeartMath™ biofeedback certified; Laughter Yoga™ certified; Emotion Code certified practitioner and Integrative Processing Technique.  She is also a certified Integrated Listening Systems and Safe and Sound Protocol practitioner.  Her specialty is seeing how the mind and emotions affect the body and how the body affects the mind.

Jan’s father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when she was in high school. He also had  post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.  Parkinson’s has been a particular specialty of hers to understand and create programming that not only improves the individual’s quality of life but actually help reduce symptoms.  Mental health concerns have also been a specialty addressing symptoms from a neurological perspective that complements area counselors and practitioners.

She has worked with adults and children with neurological challenges since 1982; specializing in Parkinson’s exercise classes since 2002.  She and Barbara Edin are co-authors of Zing!  A Guidebook for exercising your body, mind, emotions and spirit programming.

HeartSprings was founded in 2008.  As its founder, we have created a center to serve those who are living with chronic dis-eases or life changing circumstances such as accidents, neurological challenges, chronic pain, and now more recently mental health and recovery.   Jan looks forward to exploring holistic options for you.  Her intakes are comprehensive and look for ways to help the body, mind, emotions, and spirit heal.

Cammie Lamey

MSc Biology, CYT 500, SomaYoga Therapist

I have been studying the body for more than 20 years, teaching nursing and dental students about its structure (Anatomy) and how it works (Physiology). My academic studies have been enhanced with experiential-styled Hatha yoga trainings emphasizing the practical exploration of the effects of movement and self-care techniques on the body and mind. These trainings promote self-study and reflection informing the nervous system of what serves the body, mind, and spirit and encourage a yoga practice in its physical and psychological sense that increases resilience to life’s physical and emotional challenges. I have continuing yoga education in trauma-induced stress, non-traumatic stress, and mind studies. My current 1000 hour SomaYoga Therapy training incorporates Western medical knowledge with the timeless practices of Yoga and Ayurveda to bring physical and mental ease to our “soma” – our whole being.
